Debating the UK’s legacy in Afghanistan

In the run-up to the British withdrawal from Afghanistan later that year, in April 2014 I was asked to appear on BBC’s The Big Questions to debate the question, “Can Britain be proud of its role in Afghanistan?”

This topic built on a series of policy briefings that I had been writing around the importance of negotiating with all parties including so-called “spoilers” in the run-up to the withdrawal.
