Bio

I am a researcher and practitioner specialising in issues related to human rights and forced displacement, within the broader area of peace and conflict studies. My research has been supported by grants from the Economic and Social Research Council and the Worldwide Universities Network, and my findings have recently been published in Global Affairs and the European Journal of International Security.

My research draws on fieldwork interviewing, and I have country expertise in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cambodia, Kosovo and Sri Lanka, all of which I have travelled to in order to conduct interviews on peacebuilding with civil society and state representatives. I have also run a research training course in Somaliland (once in 2015 and again in 2016), a conflict sensitivity training workshop in Kosovo (2017), and a policy engagement workshop in Sri Lanka (2019).

I have consulted on a range of human rights, humanitarianism, conflict prevention and peacebuilding topics related to my expertise since 2015. I am also listed as an Academic Friend of the European Peacebuilding Liaison Office, and was previously a Research Associate at the Foreign Policy Centre.

I hold a BA(Hons.) in International Relations from the University of Leeds (2011, First Class), an MSc in Defence, Development and Diplomacy from Durham University (2013, Distinction), and a PhD in Politics from the University of Bristol (2018).
